One week prior to Lip Injections

• Avoid blood thinning over the counter medications because this will make the area more prone to bruising and bleeding, so 7 days prior stop taking painkillers (e.g. aspirin or ibuprofen), and stop drinking alcohol which also thinks your blood.
• Avoid supplements including St John Wort, Gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, and vitamin E.

2 Days prior to injections

• Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Glycolic Acidor any anti-ageging products.
• Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing or usig hair removal cream on the area to be treated.

Do start taking Arnic two days prior to the procedure because this can helps to lessen bruising.

24 Hours Prior to Injection

• Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior.

Most treatments include injections to the skin. Whenever the skin is punctured there is a risk of bruising and swelling. However, our practitioners are highly skilled and will do their best to ensure veins are avoided, though it's impossible to avoid all underlying structures of the skin.

It's advisable to time your treatments to avoid any special occasions within the 14 days period of the procedure. This should ensure that any residual bruising or swelling, if experienced, has subsided following your injection treatment.

Derma fillers contain an acid that draws in moisture, giving the lips a more plumped appearance. The ideal candidate will have thinned lips that detract from his or her normal appearance.

A candidate for lip augmentation must first make sure that she is in perfect health before the procedure. Those with cold sores, scarring on the lips, or diseases like lupus, auto-immune or diabetes are not good candidates for this procedure. Allergies to the substances in the product such as lidocaine are contra-indicated in this treatment.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in hyaluronic acid lip fillers you will not be able to go ahead with the treatment.

Lip fillers are not recommended if you r pregnant or breast feeding.

Typically, lip injections are fast and easy. Some patients feel minor discomfort and on or a slight pinch, but pain is usually brief and manageable. Everyone's pain threshold is different and some people may experience more pain than others.

It does not take much lip filler to make your lips plumper. The average treatment will require just 0.5 to 1 ml of the filler to achieve the desired effects, so you are unlikely to need more than one syringe of dermal filler. In some cases a little more filler may be used to achieve a more dramatic look, but it would rarely require more than 2ml or (2 syringes) of filler.

Despite the lips being injected with filler, they actually should not swell dramatically straight after the procedure. The lips should appear as they will do once the post treatment swelling (which can happen later) has diminished - so you should see your lips close to how theyll look as the finished product.

• Avoid kissing or messaging your lips directly after the procedure and possibly for up to 24 hours if its your first lip filler injection.
• Do be gentle with your skin while washing for 24 hours.
• Don't use exfoliating agents for 24 hours or any harsh cleaning brush
• Stay clear of strenuous exercise for 48 hours. Strenuous physical activity increases the heart rate and blood flow and may cause swelling and bruising.
• Avoid laser treatments
• Don't use makeup too soon.
• Avoid drinking alcohol

• Apply ice to you lips afterwards using an ice pack or an ice cube covered in a cloth
• Stay hydrated

All hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be safely dissolved with a product called Hyalase. This is a fasting acting dissolving agent, which will remove the unwanted filler quickly.

To ensure safe practice we dont treat clients for any of our injectables treatment 2 weeks before Covid-19 vaccine and 2 weeks post vaccine.

Cosmetic treatment experts and industry bodies have issued guidelines for a dermal filler after a few cases of swelling that were related to dermal fillers and the Covid-19 vaccination. The advice is that it is best to leave a 2 week interval before having dermal fillers and 2 weeks after in order to minimise the risk of post-inflammatory swelling or reaction.
